Flu Vaccination Information for NIH Employees

NIH Employee Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Program Underway 10/19/09

The annual seasonal influenza vaccination program for NIH employees began on Monday, October 19, 2009.

The location of this year's on-campus vaccination clinic:
The Hatfield Clinical Research Center
Building 10, 7th Floor Atrium, East Side

  • Vaccinations are given based on the first letter of the employee's last name.
  • NIH Photo ID must be presented in order to start the vaccination process.
  • PLEASE DRESS LIGHTLY. Wear clothing that will let you quickly expose your upper arm. Changing areas will not be available.
  • Flu vaccine given to NIH employees only (see exception below).

Important: Flu vaccine is mandatory for all NIH employees and contractors who have contact with Clinical Center patients. Declinations must be in person at the vaccination clinic or Occupational Medical Services (10/6C306).

**Please be advised**
Availability of the novel H1N1 vaccine is anticipated for late October or early November. Since the exact date and quantity is not known, there is no schedule available yet for NIH employees to receive the vaccine. Depending on quantity, the vaccine may not be available to all NIH employees.

A new influenza toolkit from the Office of Personnel Management for federal supervisors and employees is now available at:
http://www.flu.gov/professional/federal/workplace/index.html. This toolkit contains detailed information about steps federal employees should take in planning and responding to the 2009–2010 Influenza Season.
