NIH to Suspend Seasonal Flu Vaccination Program
10/30/09
Due to overwhelming demand for the seasonal influenza vaccine, the NIH must suspend the immunization effort, effective Friday, October 30.
We sincerely apologize to those employees who anticipated receiving a vaccination but were unable. We ordered the most flu vaccine ever for our immunization program, but demand was unprecedented. The Occupational Medical Services has already administered a record number of doses this year (over 10,000).
Those still in need of immunization should check with their personal healthcare providers and other public venues. In the event your physician is also out of the seasonal flu vaccine, the Office of Research Services and the Clinical Center Hospital Epidemiology Service have created a resource to help you find providers in your area that still have flu vaccine or FluMist available. To start your search, visit the “Community Resources” section of the Foil the Flu website.
